While you cannot eradicate mold spores, you can remove any mold that has grown and prevent it from reoccurring.

To tackle the problem of indoor mold, your first line of defense is to thoroughly clean the area affected. You can call in a professional if the problem is too big, if not you can try to tackle it yourself. You will need protective gloves, goggles and a protective mask over your nose and mouth when killing mold. Look for products especially designed for killing mold. There are a variety of mold removing detergents on the market you can try to get rid of mold. After you have cleaned and killed the mold growths the next step in the process is to keep it from coming back.

Once the task of removing the mold has been accomplished, it is important to now keep the area dry. Mold spores cannot grow without moisture. Therefore to stop mold you must stop any moisture problems you have. Basements, bathrooms and attics are common places to find mold. If you have leaky pipes, they need to be repaired. Attic mold removal might be best left to the pros because many attics are left closed for years and may have an overgrowth of dangerous mold.
